"Creators-In-Residence" Program
Are you an artist, maker, or innovator and inspired to share your skills and learn new ones? Do you have a sense of adventure and curiosity and want to be a part of a global movement of change-makers? Join the GTP team in Kenya for a 3-Week experience promoting well-being and livelihoods by co-creating products for the global marketplace.
YOU: Are a Creative person, perhaps with a background in the trades, arts, design, IT, etc. You know how to develop and make cool things, and you'd love to use your skills to help support women and families in low-resource areas. You're looking for an opportunity to build meaningful relationships with new people across the world, and to experience an amazing adventure of self-discovery, growth, and connection. You are ready to go beyond sustaining yourself, to help make a positive impact to other's lives in the world around you.
YOUR CHALLENGE: You are being called to stretch beyond your comfort zone, and expand your world view, with humility and openness. In this 3-week immersion experience, you will travel to the South Coast of Kenya, location of one of the top rated beaches in the world. Snorkeling, dhow boats, sand islands await. And yet, like many key tourist destinations around the world, it is a place of contrasting reality- as issues of poverty, sexual exploitation, and trauma affect many families. Here, you will work with a group of community members passionate about improving the lives of their families, to co-create a specific, locally-made product that can be marketed and sold to generate income. The product must be locally-sourced, relevant to the local community, and related to GTP's themes of: healing, well-being, women's leadership, growth and transformation. You will have three weeks to work collaboratively with the Angaza (Shining Light) group, to co-create an artisan product that can continue to be sustainably made, marketed, and sold.
YOUR INVESTMENT: Your investment includes:
- 3-weeks project commitment (add time if you'd like to stay and travel in Kenya)
- $5,000 fundraising commitment to support GTP programming in Kenya
- $2,000 Program Fee. Includes 3-weeks accommodation in Diani, meals, travel to/ from project location, and three, full-day excursions.
